Summary

Something disturbing is occurring in Louisiana's coastal wetlands, already severely threatened by numerous natural and human factors. Large areas of the coastal salt marshes have died or are dying rapidly with no clear cause or explanation. About 105 thousand of the 390 thousand acres of the coastal salt marshes in Louisiana have been affected by a blight now known as brown marsh phenomenon.
