Promoting Awareness

The National Wetlands Awards are presented annually to individuals who have excelled in wetlands protection, restoration, and education. Through coordinated media outreach, educational events, and an awards ceremony on Capitol Hill, awardees receive national recognition and attention for their outstanding efforts. In light of the current circumstances with COVID-19, the May 2021 in-person ceremony was cancelled. However, ELI has honored the awardees throughout the month of May via podcasts, blogs, and other virtual programming. Stay current by using #WetlandsAwards2021 on your favorite social media platform.

The 2021 National Wetlands Awards webinar celebrated the winners of the Awards while also exploring the momentous work of individuals, across the country, who uniquely and effectively educate communities about the importance of wetlands and spur community engagement in wetland protection efforts. View the recording of the webinar here.

Finally, we concluded this month's celebrations by releasing an episode of ELI's People Places Planet Podcast that showcases the awardees as they share their perspective adn insights on a variety of wetlands-related mattes.
