This project analyzes Tribal-state/local consultation in California. The project specifically focuses on two California laws that require state agencies and local governments to consult with Native American Tribes: Assembly Bill 52 and Senate Bill 18.

  • Case study research with partner Tribes: selecting key examples of state/local consultation
  • Conducting background interviews with Tribal, state, and local officials as well as other subject matter experts

- Conducting interviews with Tribal, state, local officials, and other experts to understand the development, implementation, and enforcement of AB 52 and SB 18.
