Summary

The Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW), in Lee and Collier counties on Florida’s Gulf Coast, is a large-scale wetlands acquisition project that offers an innovative model of cooperative, ecosystem-oriented land conservation. The wetlands reserve, which will encompass 56,000 acres, is located at the upper edge of the Big Cypress ecosystem, west of the Everglades.
