Deficiencies Documented in Spatial Analysis of the Ecosystem Enhancement Program

An article in the December 2009 issue of Ecological Applications, "Landscape Characteristics of a Stream and Wetland Mitigation Banking Program," asserted that North Carolina's mitigation program was substantially shifting streams and wetlands across the landscape and raised concerns about the program's effectiveness and potential ecological implications. This issue features an extended abstract of that article, a rebuttal from the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program, which disputes the article's findings, and a response from the article's authors.
