NWF Corporate Conservation Council's Wetlands Statement

The Corporate Conservation Council of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has recently endorsed a "Statement of Policy and Practices for the Conservation of Wetlands." Eighteen months of dialogue led to the final Statement, which outlines the values of wetlands and advocates greater attention to identification and ranking of critical wetland area. The Statement reflects the Council members' "commitment to be particularly sensitive to wetlands problems and to be attentive to these issues in the conduct of [their] businesses." While carefully worded, the Statement does indeed represent a significant forward step in sensitive and sensible wetlands protection for this nation's critical wetland resources.
