Oregon Study Finds Continued Loss of Freshwater Wetlands

Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 11
Summary

A recent study on wetland and land use change in Oregon’s Willamette Valley between 1994 and 2005 showed a continued loss of freshwater wetlands, with gains in open water ponds. Partnered with the results from a previous study of the Willamette Valley from 1982 to 1994, the findings provide the first statistically valid account of wetland gains and losses in this economically important and highly altered region.
