Restoration of Fisheries Habitat: A Legislative Proposal

There are numerous federal, state, and local laws related to the conservation of coastal habitats. Nevertheless, these valuable resources continue to be degraded and destroyed. One result is a decline in many of this nation's fishery resources- at a time of increasing seafood consumption. What is needed to reverse this decline is enactment of comprehensive federal legislation to conserve and restore fisheries habitat.
