Yazoo Pumps: Decompressed

One year ago, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued its twelfth-ever veto under the Clean Water Act. The Yazoo Backwater Area Pumps Project in Mississippi, first planned in 1941, would have destroyed tens of thousands of acres of environmentally significant wetlands. The author recalls the efforts that went into stopping the project.
